The original studio cast recording of Goosebumps The Musical: Phantom of the Auditorium will be released by GHOSTLIGHT RECORDS in streaming and digital formats on Friday, October 29.
Based on the book by R.L. Stine and featuring music and lyrics by Danny Abosch and book and lyrics by John McClay, Goosebumps The Musical follows Brooke and Zeke who are about to take center stage in a show called The Phantom. While an old legend claims that the play is cursed, the duo is not frightened until they encounter a number of spooky messages and supernatural events interrupting their rehearsals. The friends become determined to solve the mystery as they wonder if their school is truly haunted or if it’s all a coincidence.
The musical, commissioned by Oregon Children’s Theatre and First Stage in Milwaukee, first premiered at the Todd Wehr Theater in Milwaukee and the Newmark Theatre in Portland, OR in October 2016. It later saw productions at Dallas Children’s Theater, Main Street Theater in Houston, and The Coterie Theatre in Kansas, among others.
The cast includes Krystina Alabado (Mean Girls, American Psycho), Alex Brightman (Tony nominee for Beetlejuice), Noah Galvin (Waitress, “The Real O’Neals”), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Tony nominee for Dreamgirls), Will Roland (Dear Evan Hansen, Be More Chill), Stephanie Styles (Kiss Me Kate, “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist”), with a special appearance from R.L. Stine himself. The ensemble features Arianny Escalona, Alex Gibson, AJ Lewis, Armenia Sarkissian, Shuba Vedula, and Aika Zabala. Danny Abosch produced the album along with providing arrangements and orchestrations.
