TYA Board of Directors

We're seeking 4-6 candidates to join our dynamic, dedicated, and passionate Board of Directors.

The TYA/USA board is comprised of a variety of professionals, administrators, artists, and educators from across the country dedicated to advancing the TYA field. The TYA/USA Board is responsible for supporting the vision, operations, and financial stability of the organization. Current leadership includes Executive Director Sara Morgulis and Board President Idris Goodwin.

Board members are elected to serve for two consecutive three-year terms. Board members are required to attend 1 in-person meeting per year at the National Festival & Conference (rotating location), and an additional 3 zoom meetings; serve on at least two committees; participate in additional phone calls and/or email communication as needed; and make and/or fundraise for a personally meaningful contribution to the organization. Previous board service and experience in the field of TYA are not required.

We believe that the field of TYA, and the young people we serve, are profoundly strengthened by the diversity of our leadership and our differences in background, culture, experience, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, age, disability, and much more.

We have taken a multidimensional approach to addressing diversity, inclusion, and belonging across all areas of our programming. We actively seek and welcome applications from people of color, women, the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, and people at intersections of these identities, from across the spectrum of the field.

This year, based on the makeup of our current board, we are particularly interested in candidates with the following areas of experience:
– Development/Fundraising
– Human Resources/General Non-Profit Management
– Current or Past Board Members of Arts Organizations
– Broadway/Commercial Theatre Producing
– Employment Law/Non-Profit Law
– Script Publishing & Licensing
– Rights & Content Acquisitions Film/TV/Streaming Services/Books
