WHAT IS YAOT?
The Young Audience Outreach Tour’s mission is to provide equitable access to high quality theatre and arts education to rural and remote communities across the Southwest. This program annually produces an original musical production for students in grades K-6 and has served 400,000+ young people since its founding 40 years ago. DUTIES OF DIRECTOR / CHOREOGRAPHER:

  • Attend all design conferences, production meetings, rehearsals, and technical rehearsals.
  • Collaborate with the Education, Artistic, Production and Creative teams.
  • Rehearse with two seperate casts and prepare them to tour the production to elementary schools across the Southwest.
  • Participate in seasonal company meetings, as required.
  • Participate in marketing and/or publicity functions as required to promote the play, the 2024
  • Season, and/or CRT throughout the course of the contract. Timing and number of engagements subject to mutual approval.
  • Adhere to, and assist in the enforcement of, CRT’s health and safety protocols and policies.
  • Commit to CRT’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Initiative (statement available on CRT’s website). Contribute to a respectful and inclusive environment in every aspect of your work.
    Adhere to CRT’s values of Artistry, Grit, Intentionality, and Community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Directing experience required.
  • Theatre choreography experience required.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Ability to communicate via phone, email, zoom, and in person required.
  • TYA experience preferred.
  • Familiarity/comfortability with latin dance styles preferred.

Second Design Meeting – Week of April 22nd, 2024
Second Draft of Script Due from Playwright – May 1st, 2024
Third Design Meeting – Week of May 13th, 2024
Music Demos Due from Composer – May 20th, 2024
Fourth Design Meeting – Week of June 10th, 2024
Fifth Design Meeting – Week of June 24th, 2024
Production Meetings Begin – Week of July 8th, 2024
First Rehearsal – August 6, 2024
Tech Begins – August 27, 2024
Opening – August 30, 2024
Closing – November 24, 2024
