Founded in 1966, Creede Repertory Theatre (CRT) is a 501(c)3 non-profit professional theatre company with an annual budget of $1.7M. From its Rocky Mountain roots, CRT serves as an artistic home to our rural community and beyond, through the creation of repertory seasons, dynamic educational programs and compelling new works. With deeply rooted values in equity, diversity and inclusion, CRT is committed to being a haven for artistic excellence, belonging, and intrinsic joy. Located at 9,000 feet in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, the historic town of Creede offers beautiful views, hiking trails, and stunning campsites in a county comprised of 97% public land. The Denver Post has named CRT as “among the top five theatres in the state;” USA Today has called CRT “one of the top ten theatres to see the lights way off Broadway;” and the National Theatre Conference gave CRT the Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2007. CRT was featured on the front page of the New York Times Art & Leisure section in 2021 with an article touting Creede as the “triumph of the Friday night footlights.”
