Drama Desk Award-winning TADA! Youth Theater actively seeks a Wardrobe Supervisor for its upcoming Spring musical, Common Ground.

Common Ground is a TADA! premiere and our first two-act musical about the experiences of teen immigrants in 2018 navigating their new life in the US and the ICE raids. The cast is 15 RYET Members ages 11-18.

TADA! Youth Theater is committed to producing high quality original musical productions for family audiences. We are also committed to building and fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that is representative of our vastly diverse Resident Youth Ensemble of TADA! (RYET) Program. TADA! is continually working to become a more anti-racist and anti-oppressive organization. An ideal candidate will have previous wardrobe/dresser experience working on musicals and working with young people and teens. Must be knowledgeable, patient, fun, organized, detail-oriented, disciplined, proactive, and an excellent communicator and collaborator with young people and adults. Cast members, ages 8-18,  come from the five boroughs as well as NJ and are from various racial, economic and cultural backgrounds and will have a variety of theatrical experience.

COMPENSATION: This is a temporary, part-time position that reports to the Associate Director of the RYET Program and is paid bimonthly, $500/week for 4.5 weeks, $2,250 total, through payroll beginning April 30th.

COMMITMENT: April 11th – May 14, 2024 (4.5 weeks)

Onboarding: April 11th & 12th
Tech Rehearsal April 12th-April 20th: Friday (12th) 3:15-8:00pm, Saturday/Sunday 10:00-8:00pm, Wednesday/Thursday 3:15-8:00pm, Friday (19th) 3:15-9:30pm, Saturday (April 20th) TBD
Performances April 20th- May 11th:  Thursdays & Fridays at 7:00pm, Saturdays 2:00pm & 7:00pm, Sundays 2:00pm, Friday May 10th 10:30am
Final Laundry and Costume Strike some time May 11th-14th (or until completed)

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Purchasing, if necessary, costume pieces, accessories, make-up, and hair supplies
  • Maintaining and repairing costumes as required (sewing skills a must!)
  • Assisting the cast with quick changes and acting as a dresser for the musical;
  • Weekly laundering (and or spraying for dry cleaned costumes if any) of the costumes during the performance run and after the final performance
  • Assisting actors with their makeup and hair styles
  • Maintaining overall cleanliness of the dressing rooms with the help of daily dressing room monitors
  • Maintaining discipline in the dressing room area while keeping the cast quiet.
  • Costumes shall be prepped and ready for cast no later than 1 hour before the first performance of the day. The Wardrobe Supervisor is expected to be present for a final meeting with the cast each performance day to get notes.
