Internship Program Summary:
SCT’s Social Media Internship offers the perfect opportunity to dive into the world of content creation, audience engagement, and digital strategy—all while gaining hands-on experience during our largest educational program of the year. This paid educational internship combines practical responsibilities with structured learning, giving you the tools to grow your expertise in social media management.  As a Social Media Intern, you’ll develop skills in scheduling and planning engaging content across platforms, learn to analyze performance metrics to drive digital strategy, practice crafting creative, on-brand posts that connect with our audience, and collaborate with our team to support SCT’s online presence during a large-scale program. By the end of your internship, you’ll feel confident managing social media for professional organizations and have a clear understanding of what it takes to support a major campaign.

About SCT:
Since its inception in 1975, the Seattle Children’s Theatre (SCT), has served more than 4 million children for 45 seasons of creative professional theatre and arts education classes for the Puget Sound region, and is one of the most prominent theatre organizations for young audiences in the United States and the world. SCT’s mission is to provide children of all ages access to professional theatre, with a focus on new works, and theatre education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging and on-brand content for various social media platforms, including posts, stories, and videos.
  • Assist with graphic design and photo editing for social media campaigns.
  • Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and respond promptly and professionally.
  • Interact with followers to build relationships and boost engagement.
  • Use data insights to identify trends and recommend strategies for improving engagement and reach.
  • Assist in real-time social media coverage for events, including live posting, stories, and behind-the-scenes content.
  • Assist in other marketing duties, as necessary.

Program Schedule & Syllabus:

  • Consistent schedule Monday – Friday; 9:00 am – 4:00 PM
  • Mandatory program dates are June 9, 2025 – August 22, 2025; Observed holidays are June 19 and July 4
  • Required learning activations for program credit result in an administrative portfolio that include: weekly meetings with administrative mentor(s), attend learning workshops, shadowing and interviewing admin staff in collaborating departments, administrative capstone project

Program Benefits

  • $747.36/week (36 hours/week) of supporting Marketing administration. Compensation is applicable to payroll taxes.

Candidate Skills and Qualifications:

  • Emerging professional in higher education institutions as a rising junior, senior, or graduate student.
  • Dedication to arts and non-profit work.
  • Commitment to social justice work.
  • Familiarity with using Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and direct multiple tasks concurrently and provide follow through.
  • Highly organized, strong attention to detail and time management.
  • Must be an independent thinker and doer while being a collaborative, effective team player.

Housing Information
SCT does not provide housing for interns.
