CTC has grown to become a national leader in Theatre for Young Audiences. We serve nearly 200,000 young people and families throughout North and South Carolina and are dedicated to creating vibrant and engaging theatre experiences, both on the stage and in the classroom. Our education programs serve children ages 2-18 in creative drama, acting and musical theatre focused tuition-based classes, as well as in schools, after-school programs and with community partners across the Charlotte region. With a focus on process, our goal is to teach life skills through theatre skills and help those who wish to pursue the craft of theatre to hone their skills and find their artistic voice.


As an enthusiastic, motivated, and organized administrator and theatre educator you will join a team responsible for the overall operations of CTC’s year-round education programs and initiatives. With outstanding project management skills and theatre education experience, you will work in collaboration with the education team in the following areas:

Program Management – Serve as lead and/or support manager for the following programs:

  • Early Childhood & Creative Drama (ages 2-9), School of Theatre Training (grades 4-12), and Mini-Camps (grades K – 5th): Duties include program and curriculum preparations, overseeing maintaining, updating, tracking, and analyzing program budgets, overseeing and managing teaching artists, and communication and support of student issues.
  • Summer Camp & Onstage Programs:  Duties include managing the summer counselor program, managing the Onstage stage management team, and various shared duties for planning, script preparation, and operations of these programs.
  • Deliver creative, artistic, and high-quality educational experiences for our students while maintaining a safe and supportive environment rooted in kindness. This includes tone-setting, communication, behavior management, scheduling, ensuring quality of class curriculum, staff assessment and arrival/dismissal coordination.
  • Maintain a rotating manager-on-duty schedule for all programs.
  • Engage teaching skills within these programs when needed.

Curriculum and Content Development – Provide curriculum support to all programs in collaboration with the Education Department team. Provide specific expertise in Early Childhood & Creative Drama programs (ages 2-9), including researching and sourcing materials, books, scripts, crafts, etc.

Teaching Artists Development – In collaboration with the Education Department team, you will hire, train, assign, direct, assess, and retain teaching artists, including overseeing, and managing our Resident Teaching Artists.

Resource Guides – Develop and create all content for CTC’s Resource Guides. All materials align with Common Core Standards and North Carolina Essential Standards. Our Pre-K shows align with the North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development.

Serve as a key member of the Education Team, providing support and assistance to the full scope of the department’s programs, including off-site residences, community programs, library partnership programming, and regularly collaborating with larger CTC staff including Development and Marketing departments.

  • You are an organized, detail oriented and strong project manager, with solid administrative and supervisory skills. You are at your best when working on a variety of projects simultaneously. You love fine-tuning operational logistics and learning new strategies for ensuring program efficiency.
  • You are a skilled theater educator with the ability to teach and develop curriculum for students ages 2-18. Expertise in Early Childhood and Creative Drama is a plus.
  • You are enthusiastic, goal driven, unflappable under pressure, and can strike a balance between juggling all the details and executing them successfully.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment. As an active and compassionate listener, bridge builder and organized manager, you are committed to providing quality theatre education experiences.
  • You are people-oriented with the ability to motivate a team. Receptive to new ideas, you can develop, nurture, and leverage authentic relationships within and outside of the organization.
  • You are proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace apps. You are motivated and driven to find ways to use technology for efficiency and effective project management. It’s a plus if you have worked with a customer relations management system or ticketing system.
  • You are excited and committed to lead through a lens of kindness, equity, cultural awareness, and sensitivity.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Candidates with a B.A. degree plus two years’ professional administrative/project management experience or candidates with a significant combination of both. Additionally, 2+ years in theatre education and/or theatre education programs management. Preference will be given to individuals who have supervisory experience.

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: Directly supervises teaching artists, class assistants, and summer camp counselors in collaboration with the Education Programs & Engagement Manager and Director of Education.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee may at times lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

SALARY & BENEFITS:  This is a regular, full time, year-round exempt position with a salary of $42,000, along with a benefits package that includes paid time off; medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability, life, 403(b) retirement plan, reduced class/summer camp fees and free show tickets. Some night and weekend hours are required.
