Wheelock Family Theatre seeks an Education Program Manager. This position reports to the Director of Education and Community Engagement and is responsible for the administrative management, coordination, and execution of Wheelock Family Theatre’s education and community engagement programs.

Established in 1981, Wheelock Family Theatre at Boston University has provided affordable, award-winning theatre and arts education to families across Greater Boston through a deep commitment to inclusion, access, and artistic excellence. This role ensures the smooth operation and growth of education programs, with a particular focus on the program logistics, school partnerships, the Student Matinee Series, and professional learning opportunities. The Program Manager collaborates across departments to deliver high-quality, accessible experiences for students, educators, and audiences. The position may require evening and weekend availability to support program operations.

Essential Functions
Education Program Management
Oversees the day-to-day administrative operations of the education program, including maintaining calendars, registration systems, and enrollment tracking. Coordinates hiring logistics for teaching artists and program staff, monitors budgets related to payroll and supplies, and ensures clear and timely communication with students, families, and faculty. Provides on-site administrative support for classes and programs as needed, including evenings and weekends.

School Partnerships & Student Matinee Series
Serves as the primary administrator of school and community partnerships, including in-school residencies, after-school programs, workshops, and the theatre’s Student Matinee Series. Responsibilities include school recruitment, scheduling, registration, invoicing, and ongoing communication with partner organizations. Works cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure seamless planning and execution, while maintaining accurate records, tracking participation, and supporting program growth.

Pre- and Post-Show Learning & Accessibility
Oversees the planning and implementation of educational experiences connected to productions, including talkbacks, study guides, social stories, and audience engagement experiences. Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Audience Services and ADA Coordinator to ensure accessible and inclusive offerings, such as tactile tours and other accommodations, are effectively coordinated and delivered.

Professional Learning & Workforce Development
Administers professional learning initiatives, including internships, mentorship programs, and the summer Emerging Arts Leaders Program. Coordinates scheduling, communications, and program logistics, and supports workshops and enrichment opportunities while serving as a liaison between participants and staff.
