Job Summary:
The Theatre Education Outreach Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing educational outreach programs and initiatives for Charleston Stage. This role involves collaborating with schools, community groups, and other stakeholders to promote theater education and engagement, fostering a love for the performing arts among diverse audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Development:

  • Create and develop educational outreach programs that align with the theater organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Design curriculum and resources suitable for various age groups and experience levels.
  • Ensure the programs are inclusive and accessible to diverse participants.

Community Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, and local partners to promote theater education opportunities.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and events to represent the theater organization and connect with potential participants.

Coordination and Logistics:

  • Organize and schedule workshops, classes, and performances for outreach programs.
  • Coordinate transportation, equipment, and other logistical needs for off-site events and activities.
  • Work with Education Program Manager to manage registration and enrollment processes for participants.

Teaching and Facilitation:

  • Conduct workshops, classes, and presentations for students, educators, and community members.
  • Collaborate with theater professionals and educators to deliver engaging and informative sessions.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all participants.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Assess the effectiveness of outreach programs through participant feedback and performance data.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on program outcomes and impact.
  • Use feedback to improve and enhance programs continuously.

Marketing and Promotion:

  • Work with the marketing and communications team to promote outreach programs through various channels, including social
  • media, newsletters, and website updates.
    Assist in creating promotional materials and content as needed.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets for outreach programs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial sustainability.
  • Work with the Director of Education and Development team to provide necessary information for grants and funding opportunities to support educational initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theater Education, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of previous experience in theater education, outreach, or community engagement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teaching or facilitation experience.
  • Knowledge of theater production and the performing arts.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and program evaluation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Familiarity with Google workspace and Jackrabbit (or a similar registration system).
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for promoting the performing arts.
