The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA), located in Little Rock, AR, seeks an Audio-Visual (A/V) Technical Manager to advance the institution during a transformative era that includes the construction of a new state-of-the-art facility.  Designed by the renowned architecture firm, Studio Gang, the new facility will include landscaped grounds, by the firm SCAPE, and will secure the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts position as one of the top cultural institutions in the region. The new building includes expanded galleries, a new Art School, restaurant, Museum Store, theater, lecture hall, and other programming and event spaces.

Reporting to the Special Events Manager, with support provided by the Directors of Facilities, the Audio-Visual Technical Manager is responsible for the day-to-day A/V needs of the organization, as well as A/V for special events and internal programming. They will work collaboratively to maintain a positive and supportive work environment while serving as the primary resource for back of house A/V technical needs. They will supervise and direct A/V staff in the operation of state-of-the-art equipment such as Christie Projectors, video cameras, Planar digital signage, sound systems, microphones, sound-mixing equipment, speakers, and Lutron Smart Lighting. This position will work with all Museum departments to aid educators, program and performance producers, presenters, and engineers to generate sound and images to further the mission and support of the AMFA.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Set up, install, operate, and disassemble media equipment such as LCD projectors, speakers, microphones, TVs, video monitors, and cameras

·        Maintain inventory and maintenance of all A/V equipment and parts, and repair or set appointments for repairs to A/V inventory as needed

·        Supervise and oversee the operations and maintenance of A/V booths and A/V carts

·        Collaborate with each Museum department to discuss audio, lighting, and video requirements for events, performances, and internal meetings

·        Oversee the proper and safe layout of electrical and sound cables

·        Conduct sound, visual, and performance quality checks on all media equipment

·        Provide assistance and oversight of the facilities team in the set up and altering of room arrangements including tables, seats, and stages according to blueprints, layout diagrams, and schedules

·        Supervise hourly and part-time A/V techs

·        Provide tier 1 technical support across the organization

·        Keep up to date with A/V industry best practices

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

·        Have expert and specific knowledge of the state-of-the-art equipment listed

·        The ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously, initiative to solve problems and improve internal/external processes with a keen eye for detail

·        Individual must possess strong communication and organizational skills and retain a developed sense of customer service

·        Maintains a high level of motivation and positive attitude

·        Individual must be dependable and have the initiative to work independently, as well as, effectively as a member of a team

·        Ability to maintain a consistent professional manner in dealing with the public as well as with the staff; ability to work with multiple Museum departments and be flexible with last minute changes

·        High level of physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment

·        Expert knowledge of computer systems and IP Networking with basic competency in macOS and PC operating systems

·        Advance knowledge of modern filming and sound mixing techniques

·        High school diploma and/or general education degree (GED) required, additional degrees or A/V industry specific licensure preferred; knowledge of theatrical sound and lighting preferred; and a minimum of one year A/V Technician experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
