Learn more about Cannonball Festival

Cannonball Festival is an independently produced performing arts hub of the Philadelphia Fringe, that presents risk-taking independent artists in back-to-back performances next to delicious lounge spaces, fostering creative collisions and community conversation.

The Technical Director will work with Venue Managers, Stage Managers, Producers and design consultants to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot lighting, sound, and projection systems at each Cannonball Venue. Cannonball is a DIY festival and formal training as a technical director is not required, but the ideal candidate will have an extensive knowledge of QLab including QLab Lighting and Video, know how to replace lamps in fixtures, be able to fix simple patching and dimmer issues on the fly, know their way around a bin of sound cables, and probably keep a wrench attached to their body with tie line at all times. They’ll know a little bit about a lot of stuff and speak the secret language that is projector settings menu options, even when the image is upside down and backward. Basically, when things break at Cannonball, we want you to be able to help. We also want you to help us make our venues function as efficiently and smoothly as possible while looking AWESOME, on a budget. We will pay you with money but also with HONOR.

Applicants do not need to be residents of Philadelphia, but must be available for in-person work in August and September. Community housing is available if needed during the festival in September.

Applicants will be interviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.  We do not discriminate in our hiring process based on race, color, religion or belief, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or family status. LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals are highly encouraged to apply.
