TADA! Youth Theater is seeking a self starter, experienced and collaborative person  to join our small but mighty team to serve as  Full-time Managing Director.  Looking for an analytic, energetic, problem-solving and positive executive who can streamline TADA!’s operations and processes with the goal to help TADA! run more efficiently and reduce costs where possible.

TADA! Youth Theater is committed to building and fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that is representative of our vastly diverse youth in our RYET (Resident Youth Ensemble of TADA!) and school programs. Reports to: Executive and Producing Artistic Director

Direct Reports to the Managing Director:  Administrative Manager, Part-time Business Manager, Marketing Manager, IT and Database Consultants

RESPONSIBILITIES:

LEADERSHIP, STRATEGIC PLANNING & MANAGEMENT:

  • With TADA!’s Leadership Team, create, oversee, and execute yearly programming, budget, and staffing plans
  • Work on a new strategic plan with the TADA! board and staff around key organizational priorities to advance big picture and long term organizational goals
  • Oversee the facilities, operations, general management, IT, HR, marketing and business management efforts of TADA! Establishing and maintaining policies, systems, and procedures that ensure a safe, positive work environment .
  • Set and prioritize relevant, realistic, and attainable goals and objectives while anticipating the effects, outcomes, and risks of managing resources and setting priorities.
  • With Business Manager, manage financial operations including cash flow, reconciliations, banking, archiving, compliance, tax reporting, various union dues, A/R and A/P, and insurance.
  • Oversee, monitor, prepare and present quarterly budget reports for the Board and ED on the annual budget and cash flow  to support decision making.
  • Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with staff  and board members so that everyone fully understands why financial decisions are made and how resources are allocated
  • Proactively supporting the Executive Director with reports, recommendations, and troubleshooting, as necessary
  • Create, manage, and ensure organization policies, procedures, and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down and followed
  • Create, negotiate, prepare, and execute contracts
  • Work closely with marketing team (which includes Board Members) to create a strategic marketing plan and oversee its execution
  • Oversee and lead efforts to improve retention of staff, board, and volunteers (in partnership with Executive Leadership of TADA!) including developing and implementing a plan for staff recognition.
  • Manage all aspects of HR including benefits, onboarding, and policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working on an Executive/Senior Leadership team to move the priorities of the organization in conjunction with the needs of the community
  • Excellent analytic, problem solving, mentorship, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Proven track record of building, supporting, and retaining a non-profit staff, board, and volunteers
  • The ability to handle difficult or time sensitive issues, and positively and constructively embrace different points of view and bring cohesion to a wide array of stakeholders
  • The capacity to organize, inspire, and influence people to believe in the mission, vision, and values of TADA! while also creating a sense of common purpose centered on the well-being and growth of TADA!
  • Analyze all aspects of a situation, ascertain competing priorities, resolve difficulties, overcome obstacles, and maximize the use of time and resources to attain desired artistic outcomes and consistently sound and timely decisions.
  • Strong communications skills to ensure effective internal and external communications which will help shape the thinking on key strategic issues as well as tactical operating decisions

Youth Theater’s mission since 1984 has been to provide young people from different social, racial, economic, and cultural backgrounds with musical theater programs that inspire them to learn, be creative, and think differently through high-quality productions, positive youth development, and arts education programs. TADA! is a unique, Drama Desk award-winning nonprofit youth theater that produces original musicals for children, teens, and family audiences. TADA! offers a free, year-round, pre-professional training and a positive youth development program, RYET, for the Resident Youth Ensemble (ages 8-18); musical theater classes/camps for the public; as well as musical theater residencies in NYC schools and community centers. Through TADA!’s high-quality work, young people’s self-confidence and creativity are enhanced. They also develop advanced skills in leadership, communication, responsibility, collaboration, and problem-solving – skills that help with growing up and are essential to their success both in school and in life.
